Complex Classic Beauty
This is one of those gem-type classic titles that deserve more credit.
Le Portrait de Petite Cossette is a movie about a man who suddenly begans to have dreams of a mysterious female and of a world that exsist within the fragility of glass. Unknowing to the man however his destiny to the girl in the portrait is tied in deeper than mere mortal eyes.
The graphics and artistic display in Petite is impressive and shows the movie was advance before it's time. The atmosphere can go from mysterious to dark and forbidding in matters of seconds. The heart of emotion is captured specifically in peak plot heights of discovery and tragic.
While the OVA was composed of only 3 short-episodes the manga which was based on the OVA takes a darker ending turn than the movie.
(Disclaimer: For the faint of heart, the culturally intolerant, or morally prudent I must warn you that if you find the book "Lolita", Anime-Characters,Japanese-Influenced Artwork styles,...
Not a beginner anime...
Great art and story! shame only 3 episodes... but for the avid amine watcher it is excellent! It is a little dark so not for small kids but teens and older very good! Its a more dramatic/serious anime than a comedy so being well acquainted in anime you will have a better grasp this anime. Love this one!
A masterpiece.
Le Portrait de Petite Cossette is one of my favorite japanese animations of all time. It's an artistic film about obsession, involving the supernatural. A lot of people seem to dislike this piece of art, but the thing is, that's what it is. A piece of art. This is something that can only be appreciated if one goes into it with an open mind. Do not get this if you're expecting an anime like "Higurashi" or "Another." Le Portrait de Petite Cossette is a unique, artistic experience.
