Bigger and Blackerer

really, really funny...
Bigger and Blackerer is - as I mentioned above - reall, really funny. Most comedians would (and should) give their eye teeth for David Cross's talent. He is easily one of the top three or four comedians alive today. That being said (and again, I'm a HUGE David Cross fan) this is probably not his best material. This is NOT to say that it's no hilarious - because it is!
While it's a must for any serious fan/collector, this might not be the best thing to purchase if you're just starting out & looking for Cross's best...try "It's Not Funny" and/or "Shut Up...Baby" first...just a suggestion!!

meh...i smiled once or twice...
Let me start by saying, I am a big Cross fan...have other stand up vid.s of him that I find very funny(so if you're going to comment on this comment, please...DON'T go there!).
This one seems to be missing something. When the only time I laughed(and just a litte, at that) was during the 'extras' and not during the 'feature'...?...well that says alot. It's less than an hour, with soooooooo much filler(sign language guy was far from hitting the mark, 'hey-b!tch' bit is a rip off of 'meow'(supertroopers movie)) that it seemed over before it began...for me, atleast. It made me wonder if the door opening and the single piece of confetti was staged filler...hope not, that w/b sad...
I guess, it just seemed forced and obvious and...just not that funny. To say you've been depressed most of your life, just to find out you had a rock in your shoe...?...really...?...THAT's your 'closer'...??? Sorry, but...I want my money back...

Sharp and enjoyable as usual, but not a grand slam.
I like anything David does, so I'm biased toward appreciation out of the gate. Much of Mr. Show and earlier specials I found to be gut busting funny. This one I found funny, but somewhat redundant in terms of topic and/or viewpoint, the later not exactly surprising, but nonetheless. I would recommend David's humor to anyone that appreciates sharp, intelligent insight presented through a lens of bemusement however and this special is another excellent example of that.
