I Made a Great Movie
this Comedy doc and performance excels in many areas. The comedians themselves are hilarious, picked seemingly by the hand of a sheer genius as representatives of the alternative African American comedian genre. Each performer entertains to a degree previously not thought of by bipedal animals.
The animated segments were a stroke of creativity that once viewed by Steven Spielberg forced him to utter the words; "What am I doing?" He won't admit this of course but that doesn't make it any less true.
Shot masterfully by Alan McIntyre Smith, a cinematographic genius who was high the entire time; this film hearkens back to the days when standup concerts really looked like films.
Produced by my best Jay Stern and sound mixed by my other best friend Jason Kanter, this masterpiece represents a monumental achievement in telling two people that they were both your best friends for years.
HD 80 min, Stereo
Directed by a douche-bag.
It's true...
Sure I mixed the sound for The Awkward Comedy Show but that doesn't change the fact that everything mentioned in the other reviews is true. This is a funny, funny show. I've been subjected to this movie several dozen times and I still crack up. Working on the film has also given me the unique ability to attest to the fact that Victor Varnado is indeed a douche bag who despite having made millions off of the film's sale to Comedy Central, still owes me $500.
Where's my money Victor??!!
Hilarious!
I caught this when it aired on Comedy Central. These are not your stereotypical black comedians and that makes this stand-up movie stand out! There are 5 comics, each with their own style. My favorites were Victor and Hannibal. Along with the stand-up sets, there are animated shorts and interviews. The movie itself is well made and the comedians had me laughing out loud. This DVD is one I know I can put on every time I have friends over. Recommended!
